ITINERARY:
 

DAY 1: Arrive Bucharest – Sinaia  

Arrive in Bucharest and transfer toward Sinaia. Arrival in Sinaia and start the tour of Sinaia Monastery and Peles Castle. Set dramatically in the hills above Sinaia, this 160 room palace, built in German Renaissance style, was completed in 1914 for the first Hohenzollern king of Romania, Carol I. Fortunately, as you'll see; it is one of the best preserved royal palaces in Europe.

Afternoon free time in Sinaia for a walking tour of the city. After the walking tour accommodation at your hotel and dinner (L, D)


DAY 2: Sinia – Bran – Brasov

After breakfast early visit of Bran. Visit Bran Castle made famous by Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. After the visit of Bran continue toward Brasov.   Lunch in Brasov. After lunch start the sightseeing tour of Brasov including the visit of the First Romanian School with an impressive collection of rare books and the Black church located in the city center. Take the cable car and go to the top of the hill with spectacular view over Brasov. Afternoon will be used for shopping in the pedestrian area of Brasov. Check-in at hotel in Brasov. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Brasov. (B, L, D)

 

DAY 2: Brasov – Bucharest 

After breakfast at hotel in Brasov depart toward Bucharest. Get acquainted with the Romanian capital, once nicknamed "Little Paris." During the tour you will visit the Parliament Palace, the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon, and the National Treasure. Listen how the Romanian people nearly succeeded to topple the last communist dictator in Eastern Europe in the Revolution Square. Your tour will bring you also to the Romanian Athenaeum, the Opera House, the National Military Club, the Military Academy and the Triumphal Arch. Dinner at local restaurant and overnight stay at hotel in Bucharest. (B, L, D)

 

DAY 4: Bucharest – Veliko Turnovo – Sofia

In the morning we depart from Bucharest toward the old capital of Bulgaria's Second State from the 12th to 14th centuries. The old city has a picturesque location on the banks of the meandering Yantra River. Visit Tsarevetz Hill where you will find relics of the mighty fortress of the Bulgarian monarchs. After sightseeing tour of the city, proceed to Sofia where we will have dinner and spend the overnight in the hotel. (B, L, D)

 

DAY 5: Sofia

After breakfast full day in Sofia. Enjoy a city tour of Sofia, including a visit the Alexander Nevski Cathedral and Crypt. Visit Boyana Church which is a UNESCO World Heritage monument. Balance of the day at leisure for shopping in the city. This evening, enjoy dinner with Folklore Show. (B, L, D)                               

 

DAY 6: Sofia – Rila – Skopje

This morning continue to visit the Rila Monastery UNESCO site, the most important monastery in Bulgaria. Return to Sofia. After the visit of Rila Monastery drive toward Skopje. Arrival in Skopje and have dinner. After dinner bight tour of the city to enjoy the hundreds of monuments lighted by night. Overnight stay at hotel in Skopje. (B, L, D)


DAY 7: Skopje – Ohrid – Skopje

After breakfast drive toward Ohrid for full day tour of the city. The resort town of Ohrid is one of the oldest settlements in Macedonia dating from before the Slavic period. Ohrid is a UNESCO site located in the Ohrid/Prespa region near Galicica National Park. It has a long rich history but is perhaps best known for the missionary brothers Cyril and Methodius who arrived in Ohrid in 886AD and made Ohrid a leading center of Slavic culture and literary activities.

 

The brothers are credited with the creation of the Cyrillic Alphabet which helped them spread their missionary work in the Slavic world. After our journey on the lake we continue sightseeing on foot strolling through the picturesque alleys of the old town, discovering the craftsmanship of the rich tradition of silver filigree, wood carving, and Ohrid's Pearls. Visit the protected archaeological museum and the House of Robevc. Visit the first renaissance frescoes in the church of St. Sophia and continue to the Mother of God Church Perivlepta with the apocryphal scenes in rich frescoes from the life of the Virgin. Stop at the Classical Theatre, built 2000 years ago and still used today. At Plaoshnik tour the excavations of the Monastery of St. Pantelejmon, seat of the first Slavic University in Europe founded by St. Clement. Time for lunch of Ohrid trout prepared fresh from the lake. Afternoon return back to Skopje where we have dinner and spend the overnight. (B, L, D)

 

DAY 8: Skopje – Thessaloniki  

After breakfast start the sightseeing tour of Skopje. Short introduction of the country. Organized sightseeing of Mother Theresa House, Old Railway Station, and Stone Bridge. After the visit of Skopje drive toward Ohrid. After the visit of Skpje have lunch in the city and depart toward Thessaloniki. Arrival in Thessaloniki where we have dinner and spend the overnight. DAY 9: Thessaloniki – Meteora – Thessaloniki Departure    

Start a full day tour in Meteora and discover the astonishing Meteora. Visit 2 main monasteries of Meteora and discover the natural beauty and the cultural heritage of this area. This tour will take you back in the dark ages and the story of the first hermits and monks who laid the foundations of what later on became the monastic community of Meteora. Learn which monastery was the first to be established and the true motivations behind the monks’ decision to try to climb the steep rocks of Meteora and to build there the monasteries. Learn everything, see everything. And then we will take you to the most beautiful spots for amazing views and photos. Afternoon drive back to Thessaloniki and transfer to the airport and departure toward KUL. (B, L)
